Can you paint a house exterior in a Tacoma winter?

Modern exterior paints cure down to about 35°F, so cold isn't the problem. Wet is. And in Tacoma from November to March, wet is most days.

What we actually need

Dry siding, a dry forecast for the day and the night after, and temperatures that stay above the paint's minimum until it cures. Dew is the sneaky one: a clear November day can still leave siding wet at 8 a.m. and again by 5 p.m., which leaves a narrow window. We'll use a dry stretch when we get one, and we'll pause a job rather than push it into rain.

When we say no

If we can't get the substrate dry, we don't paint it. Paint over damp wood fails within a year, and we'd rather reschedule than come back to fix it.

What to do in winter instead

Winter is when we do interiors, cabinets, and commercial work, and when we book the exterior calendar. If you want your house painted in May, the quote should be done by February. Spring fills fast and the crews that are good are the crews that are booked.
